Trip Details

This Gokyo trek gives you a chance to visit the famous Gokyolake as well as Gokyo valley in the Khumbu region.  Top from the GokyoRi, you will get a best view of Everest and other surrounding mountains as well as the valley, glaciers, and lakes.  This is an easy trek compared to three pass treks and Everest base camp trek.  This is an alternative trek route for the people who do not want to do Everest base camp trekking or three pass trek.  This 16-day trek begins from Kathmandu where we will visit different heritage sites as well as the local markets at the beginning and end of the trek and then the trekking starts from Lukla – the gateway to Everest all the way to the GokyoRi.

Itinerary

• Day 1 Arrival

  Upon arrival, out team member will meet and greet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport and upon completion of airport formalities, our representative will escort you to the hotel. Check in at the hotel and in the free time, you will be briefed well by our guide about the trekking. Free time in the afternoon, preparing for the trek. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 2 Fly to Lukla / Trek to Monjo

  After breakfast, we will prepare to take our flight to Lukla. This 30-minute scenic flight will give you a glimpse of different mountain range. Upon reaching Lukla, we will get our bags and prepare to trek to reach Monjo. It is a gradual ascend as well as ascend up to Monjo. We will meet many trekkers on the route here. Today is an easy walk for about 3 hours to reach Monjo. Upon reaching, we will check in at the local teahouse and rest for the day. Overnight stay in Monjo

• Day 3 Monjo to Namche Bazar

  After breakfast, we will prepare to trek up to reach Namche. It will take about 5-6 hours to reach Namche. The trail passes through riverbank, different villages and forest with different vegetation. While trekking, you will be able to see different mountains like Thamserku, Kongde, AmaDablam, Nuptse, etc. We will be crossing rivers on a suspension bridges and walk pass Jorsale Village. Just before reaching Namche, we will have to ascend a steep trail and then we reach Namche – a beautiful village located at the lap of different mountains. Overnight stay here at the lodge

• Day 4 Rest day in Namche Bazar

  Today is an acclimatization day here in Namche. We will be touring around this beautiful Sherpa valley. There are café, banks, ATMs, restaurants, and local markets here. We will do short hike up where we will get a beautiful view of different mountains like Nuptse, Thamserku, AmaDablam, Kongde, Everest, and many more. We can also visit the local schools as well as monastery today. Overnight stay at the lodge

• Day 5 NamcheBazar to Mong La

  After breakfast, we leave Namche Bazar to reach Mong La. Trail is both uphill as well as downhill. Trail passes through Khumjung village. On the way, if lucky enough, we would likely to see different wild animals. Following the trail, we will get a good view of AmaDablam, Thamserku, and other mountains. Trail then passes through DudhKoshiriver and after that, few hours of uphill trail will lead you to Mong La. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 6 Mong La to Machhermo

  After breakfast, we follow the trail, crossing the river over the suspension bridge. Trail passes through different forests, bridge, river, waterfalls, and village. Most likely, we may encounter different species of animals in the forest. Along with that views of AmaDablam, Thamserku, Kantega will accompany you throughout today’s walk. We will encounter with the fellow trekkers on the way to Machhermo. After about 5-6 hours of uphill as well as downhill walk, we will now reach Machhermo. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 7 Machhermoto Gokyo

  After breakfast, we will trek along the trail in the bank of DudhKoshiriver. The trail then widens up passing through different villages, rivers, and forest. Throughout the trail, we will see different stone inscriptions, prayer flags and wheels, and chortens built in the memory of people who lost their lives during summiting peaks. On the way, we will climb steep up to reach Ngozompa glacier. Passing this glacier, along with RabocheTso, Longpongo, and DudhPokhari, we will now finally reach Gokyo valley. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 8 Explore Gokyo Valley / Morning visit Gokyo peak for sunrise / Back to Gokyo / Visit Gokyo Lakes

  Today, we will be spending whole day exploring around the valley. Early morning we will hike up to Gokyo peak, from where we will get an astonishing view of sunrise. The golden color the sun rays striking in the mountain is an absolute beauty to admire. From the top, we will get a good view of Gokyo valley, lakes, and the mountains surrounding. We spend few times there and then get back to valley. After breakfast, we will then explore the rest of the valley. We will be acclimatizing as well as exploring the other lakes nearby valley. We will also get a chance to get close with the local people here where we will get to know about their culture and living style. Whole day, we will be exploring around the valley and lakes. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 9 GokyoRenjoLa Pass / Lungden

  After breakfast, we will hike up to reach Renjo La Pass (5340 m). It is one of the difficult pass, but the view from the top of the pass is amazing. You will get the good view of surrounding Khumbu region as well as not to mention different snow-capped mountains. We will spend few times there, and then continue our trek to reach Lungden. In about 4 hours, we will now reach Lungden. The trail is rocky uphill as well as downhill, covered with the slippery snow during the winter season. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 10 Lungdento Thame

  It is an easy but tricky downhill today. After breakfast, we will descend the trail. Walking on the rocky and slippery trail, we will pass villages, rivers, suspension bridge, and forest. Along the trail, we will see different prayer wheels, prayer flags, and chortens. We will also see the local people doing some household chores and also farming in an open field. After walking for about 6 hours, we will now reach a beautiful village, Thame. Overnight stay at hotel

• Day 11 Thameto Namche Bazar

  Woke up with the great view of surrounding mountains, we prepare to trek to reach Namche Bazar today after breakfast. Passing through different vegetation as well as forest, rivers, and village, in about 5 hours, we reach beautiful Namche Bazar. On the busy days, this place is filled with weekly markets where people from surrounding village gather here to sell and buy different household items. On the way, we will see top of the Everest and Lhotse for the last time.

• Day 12 Namche Bazar to Lukla

  Today will be the long walk which will be about 8 hours of uphill as well as downhill. It will be an easy walk, as we are used to walk in the high altitude with an ease. We will be crossing several suspending bridges, villages, and forests today. We will see that the vegetation is dense on the way to Lukla. After a final steep uphill walk in the stairs, we will now reach Lukla, where there are plenty of stores, hotels, and lodges to stay. We will now wait for our flight early in the morning tomorrow. We will share our experience with our fellow trekkers in our free time. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 13 Fly back to Kathmandu

  After breakfast, we will get to the airport to fly back to Kathmandu. It is about 30-minute of flight. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will check in our hotel and rest. Afternoon is a free time. You can either rest for the whole time or you can go for sightseeing to the nearby place. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 14 Free time in Kathmandu

  These two days are your free time here in Kathmandu. You can explore some touristic areas here and do some shopping of local handicrafts, spices, pashminas, etc. as a souvenir to your friends and families. You can also explore Thamel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Baudhanath, etc. if you have time. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 15 Free time in Kathmandu

  These two days are your free time here in Kathmandu. You can explore some touristic areas here and do some shopping of local handicrafts, spices, pashminas, etc. as a souvenir to your friends and families. You can also explore Thamel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Baudhanath, etc. if you have time. Overnight stay at the hotel

• Day 16 Departure

  Today is the final day here in Nepal. After breakfast, our representative will escort you to airport to connect with your flight. With lots of memories to be shared with your friends and families, we bid goodbye to you with the hope of seeing you back again for the next amazing trip.
